Part of the problem was that she didn't want to meet me, she just wanted to see him - a HUGE red flag that it's not a true "friendship" and that she wouldn't be a friend to our relationship, either. So, I gave an ultimatum there; I suspected strongly that it was a combination of guilt and ego that was driving his reluctance to end that situation, but I knew I'd never be comfortable with it. Happily for me, he "got it" - he understood where I was coming from and told her it wasn't going to work. Well, I thought (and told him) that that's taking guilt wayyy too far.

She can't date him, but she makes sure that I don't get a chance. She invites herself to things that she know we'll both attending, leaves events early (she drives him around because he can't drive) so that he can't talk to me, and will watch us like a hawk if we do talk.

Once you focus on you and stop thinking about what you have lost, you will almost certainly decide that you are better off without her. The 'dignity' part gives you more chance to win her back if she does change her mind and it is far better for your self respect not to 'beg' - although almost everyone does it to some extent.

We exchanged some additional emails back and forth to work out the best time, and in all of them she was super friendly. She came in and greeted me with a kiss hello and then began a bit of ""get to know you"" chit chat. "I decided to pick Sunni after she increased her online presence. Put me completely at ease, with not only those two texts but an extra message right before she got in the elevator.
