Educating our children is probably one of the most important jobs a person can have. Maybe it's not glamourous in your eyes but for you to define people by what they do is absurd. I also resent your statement regarding school teachers.

We've literally only said this to each other: "hi" twice, "thanks" once, and a few random comments related to the class. One last thing - we don't chat on Facebook like we used to either. I should add that when we do "talk" to each other, he still acts very civil. And the class is a pretty talkative class where we work together in a group of four. So two days of school have passed, and it turns out I'm in two of his classes, and in one of them we sit at the same table group. It's probably a bad sign, right?

We ended meeting at her house and she told me that she has feelings for me and has for years, and that she was breaking up with my friend. I have always felt she felt the same way, and hearing her say that, her having the balls to call me over and say it all in so plain words, I was absolutely blown away in such a great way. We proceeded to start dating. I asked her how could we possibly date, be public, have a successful relationship when she was fresh out of a 6 year relationship? Also, I kind of grilled her for telling this to me while she was still dating him. (her first boyfriend) How would all of our friends and everyone else feel and judge us, if she/we could deal with all that. We both agreed it was crazy, but we lamented that our feelings were strong and that we could make it work out. At first I was ecstatic, I have been in love with this girl for years. But then reality set in. I was selfish and greedy though, my dream girl came to me and confirmed she had feelings for me for years. About a month before their actual breakup, she texted me saying we need to talk ASAP, that she could not hold in what she had to say anymore. I was weak and could not say no. Why could she not have waited until they were broken up, done her single thing, recover, then told me about it? In hindsight, I should have listened to my gut.

We tried to do the long-distance thing, but she broke up with me over Thanksgiving when she said she'd met another guy. My high school sweetheart...she was a year older than me in high school, we were eachothers firsts, we had a beautiful relationship. She went off to college, I was left behind.

I'm not dating, and I don't even have crushes anymore, so you're doing better than I am there. I know that even if I really liked a guy, and he was making it known that he really liked me, too, I'd be high on the feeling of happiness, and then crash with anxiety. I feel the same way - I've been thinking about both this post, and SD's thread, since I saw them. My walls are sky high, because I just couldn't take another heartbreak or big disappointment now - and family drama is bringing me enough to deal with.
