Many of these factors tend to be subliminal at first but as the couple move from just dating to planning a future they become larger obstacles, and sometimes it's just easier to call it quits than to make compromises.

But stop trying to impose your will on everyone else -- they think it works just fine. Even so, if someone's expectations are unreasonable, they will be unsuccessful and have to adjust their expectations. It's a risk that people are willing to take because the potential reward is priceless. If their plan works, then no adjustment is needed and they'll find someone great. I don't see how you can justify being so hung up on how other people want to decide things for themselves.
